This man took time out of his busy day to save a cat in need and it has gotten him suspended from his job!
A guy named Maurice German is a Verizon employee in Philadelphia, and earlier this month, he was on a job when he saw a cat that had climbed up a telephone pole and was apparently stuck there. The poor cat's owner said that he had been up there for 12 hours and since the Verizon guy had one of those trucks with a basket on a crane that could reach the top of the pole, he was hoping Maurice would go up and save the cat. Maurice did just that.
Once the story made the rounds and Verizon found out about it, they suspended Maurice for three weeks. A spokesperson says Maurice misused the truck, which is a safety risk, and that's why he was suspended. Quote, "He potentially put his life and those around him in jeopardy."
Verizon also doesn't want people to be mad at them, so they threw in that they aren't happy about suspending him, and they also made a donation to an animal rescue organization.
