Guacamole Recipe Show Down: Chipolte Rip-Off Recipe vs. Mrs. Jones' Guac

Jones and MM did a blind taste test of two guacamole recipes. The online rip-off recipe of Chipolte's guac versus Mrs. Jones' recipe.

Chipotle Guacamole Copycat Recipe:

  1. 2 large avocados
  2. 1 lime
  3. 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  4. 1 jalapeño, stemmed, seeded, and finely chopped
  5. 2 tablespoons cilantro leaves, finely chopped
  6. Salt and pepper for seasoning
  7. Tortilla chips for serving

Halve the avocados and remove the pits. Finely chop the onion, cilantro, and jalapeño (keep the seeds if you like your guacamole with an extra kick). Cut the lime into four wedges.

In a medium bowl, combine the avocados and squeeze in two lime wedges. Mash until smooth and add onion, cilantro, and jalapeño. Continue to mash and stir until fully incorporated. Season to taste with salt and pepper. A few shakes of each should do.

Squeeze the juice from a third lime wedge over the top (you can use the last of the four lime wedges as a garnish). Optional: cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place directly into the fridge for about 30 minutes.

Once ready, enjoy with any tortilla chips of your choice!

*** For extra freshness, refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving.

There are a couple of differences between the Chipotle Copycat recipe and Mrs. Jones' guacamole below.

What are they?

  • NO jalepenos in Mrs. Jones's recipe
  • Mrs. Jones adds garlic salt and tomatoes

Mrs. Jones' Guacamole:

  1. 2 large avocados
  2. 1 lime
  3. 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  4. 1 plum tomato diced
  5. A pinch of garlic salt (you can add to taste)
  6. 2 tablespoons cilantro leaves, finely chopped
  7. Salt and pepper for seasoning
  8. Tortilla chips for serving

Halve the avocados and remove the pits. Finely chop the onion, cilantro, and dice the tomatoes. Cut the lime into four wedges.

In a medium bowl, combine the avocados and squeeze in two lime wedges. Mash until smooth and add onion, cilantro, and tomatoes. Continue to mash and stir until fully incorporated. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Add garlic salt to taste.
