FLORIDA - Florida’s 2025 sales tax holiday officially began Monday, offering residents the opportunity to save on firearms, ammunition, and a variety of hunting, fishing, and camping supplies.

The holiday runs through December 31st and reflects the state’s efforts to provide tax relief to consumers.

Governor Ron DeSantis and Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins announced the expanded exemptions during a news conference in Plant City.

The additions build on the traditional Hunting, Fishing, and Camping Season Sales Tax Holiday by including firearms, ammunition, and related accessories for the first time.

Exempt items include rifles, handguns, bows, crossbows, and accessories such as sights, optics, stocks, holsters, cleaning kits, quivers, arrows, and bolts.

Camping and fishing equipment is also tax-free up to specific limits.

This includes tents, sleeping bags, portable hammocks, collapsible chairs, camping stoves, rods, reels, tackle boxes, flashlights, and lanterns.

Smaller items, including bait and fishing tackle, are exempt up to set price thresholds.

During the Plant City event, DeSantis emphasized the state’s role in providing relief from ongoing economic pressures.

He noted that while Florida cannot control national price trends, tax exemptions provide a tangible benefit for residents.

The expanded 2025 sales tax holiday allows Floridians to purchase essential outdoor and recreational equipment without paying state sales tax, making it the first year firearms and ammunition are included in the exemptions.
