Boynton Beach, FL - A 14-month investigation in South Florida has resulted in the arrest of 19 individuals allegedly involved in a large-scale drug trafficking operation.
Authorities announced Thursday that the investigation, known as Operation Trackside, began in July 2024 after law enforcement received a tip regarding suspected drug activity.
Boynton Beach Police Chief Joe DeGiulio said the operation targeted high-level drug suppliers operating in Palm Beach and Broward counties.
On Wednesday, authorities executed 15 search warrants at multiple locations, including one in Fort Lauderdale where SWAT officers were seen breaching a home’s garage.
The raids led to the seizure of over five kilograms of illegal drugs, including cocaine, marijuana, and fentanyl.
Officers also confiscated six handguns, two semi-automatic rifles, 11 vehicles, a boat, and approximately $450,000 in cash.
DeGiulio indicated that further arrests may occur as the investigation continues.
“These are not street-level dealers. These are high-level suppliers, and reaching them requires extensive coordination and effort,” DeGiulio said at a press conference.
Operation Trackside involved collaboration among local, state, and federal agencies, including the DEA, U.S. Marshals Service, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Florida Highway Patrol, Broward Sheriff’s Office, and Fort Lauderdale Police Department.
Authorities emphasized the investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released as the cases proceed through the legal system.
Officials said the arrests and seizures are part of ongoing efforts to disrupt organized drug trafficking in South Florida and reduce the distribution of illegal narcotics in local communities.
