Middleburg, FL - A 14-year-old boy from Middleburg has been arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder after allegedly killing his parents in their home.
Authorities say the suspect, identified as 14-year-old Trevor Lee, called 911 on Monday, admitting to dispatchers that he had shot and killed his mother, Brandi Smith, 45, and his father, David Lee, 44.
He reportedly told authorities he was waiting at a nearby church parking lot for deputies to arrest him.
Clay County deputies responded to the scene and discovered the bodies of the victims inside their home, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
The sheriff's office confirmed that the killings appeared to be domestic-related, and there is no known threat to the community.
Lee was taken into custody without incident.
Investigators are still collecting evidence and looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
At this time, there is no information to suggest that the killings were part of any broader threat.
The sheriff’s office has stated that the investigation is ongoing, and officials are working to determine a motive for the alleged crime.
Middleburg is located roughly 30 miles south of Jacksonville.
The arrest has stunned the local community, and law enforcement is urging anyone with information about the case to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
