Hillsborough County, FL - A Florida woman was arrested after allegedly violating HOA rules, despite taking steps to comply with the courtโs orders.
Irena Green, a Florida woman, was arrested on May 23rd after allegedly violating local homeownerโs association (HOA) guidelines regarding her property.
The Trowbridge Company Inc., which manages the HOA in Hillsborough County, filed a lawsuit claiming Green had violated community standards by allowing her grass to turn brown, leaving a dirty mailbox, and parking a commercial van on her property.
The company reportedly sent multiple notices requesting that Green address these issues, but the alleged violations continued.
Green complied with the courtโs orders to correct the problems, selling the van, cleaning the mailbox, and watering her lawn.
However, she was later arrested after missing a court date in August 2024.
Green claims she did not receive proper notification about the hearing, despite contacting the courthouse multiple times for clarification.
While picking up her daughter from cheerleading practice on May 23, Green was stopped by authorities and arrested on charges of contempt of court and failure to comply with the courtโs order.
She spent seven days in jail before being released after presenting evidence of her efforts to correct the violations.
โI work hard to buy this home for me and my kids in a better neighborhood,โ Green said, expressing frustration over being jailed over minor property violations.
The Hillsborough County Sheriffโs Office and The Trowbridge Company Inc. have yet to comment on the case.
