Brevard County, FL - A woman has been arrested after allegedly leaving two dogs and a cat locked in a bedroom of an apartment for several months, resulting in their deaths.
The Brevard County Sheriff's Office responded to a report in April from a pest control worker who entered the apartment to spray for insects.
Upon opening the door to a bedroom, the worker was greeted by the overwhelming presence of hundreds of flies and discovered the deceased pets inside.
Authorities found that the animals were deprived of food and water, although pet food was located in the room, placed just out of reach.
Christianna Miller, a veterinary technician, claimed she had hired a pet sitter to care for the animals during her absence.
However, investigators from the sheriff’s office said there was no evidence of any such arrangement.
Miller, aged 28, has been charged with three counts of aggravated felony animal cruelty, three counts of unlawful confinement without adequate food, water, or exercise, and three counts of animal abandonment.
She is being held in the Brevard County Jail with a bond set at $28,500.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities review the details of the case.
