Florida's Department of Government Efficiency auditors have arrived at the Broward County Government Center looking for excessive spending.
The state Chief Financial Officer claims the county government has increases property tax burdens on residents by $450-million.
Commissioner Steve Geller says, "If it is a fair audit, they're not going to find much.... Can they find, you know, some small amounts of money that they would have spent differently? You know, different governments have different priorities, but are they going to find much, no."
Geller adds, with an $8-billion budget, they could have difference of opinion on things like homelessness, parks or traffic reduction, but the money wasn't wasted, and recommendations will be accepted.
He stresses, the majority of the increase in the budget have gone to the airport, seaport and water, which Tallahassee has supported.
The Sheriff is getting more than 55% of the county's general budget, so Geller believes, if the Governor tries to cut property taxes, he's de-funding the police.
