Family Alleges Publix was Negligent in Dad's Covid Death

The grocery chain Publix is facing a lawsuit from the family of an employee who died back in April of coronavirus.

The family of Gerardo Gutierrez alleges the 70-year-old got the virus from a co-worker at Publix in Miami Beach at a time the chain refused to let its employees wear masks at work. He worked in the deli department at the popular Florida supermarket.

NBC 6 Miami reports that when Gutierrez died in April, his adult children could only say goodbye over a video call.
