Florida gearing up to expand who can be tested for COVID-19

Florida is about to greatly expand the criteria for who is eligible to be tested for COVID-19. Governor Ron DeSantis says starting Monday at TIAA Bank Stadium in Jacksonville, the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando and Hard Rock Stadium in Miami-

"Anybody that has caronavirus symptoms regardless of age can come and get tested," Governor DeSantis said. "All first responders and healthcare workers can get tested."

And the governor says anyone who has had sustained contact with someone who has tested positive- even if they don't have symptoms- can get tested.

Florida is now a testing leader for COVID-19. Governor DeSantis says about one in every 140 Floridians have now been tested.

"South Korea had been the kind of testing model and they had done one in every 200, in South Korea."

The governor says they're also expanding access to rapid tests where results can be known in as little as 5 minutes.
