Broward Judge Facing Suspension For Allegedly Grabbing Employee

A state investigative panel is asking the Florida Supreme Court to suspend a Broward judge without pay who allegedly put her hands around an employee's neck and shook him.

The incident occurred in the Broward County Courthouse on June 11th, 2019.

Judge Vegina Hawkins is accused of confronting the employee in a hallway for not having her papers on her desk ahead of her 2:00 pm cases.

While she initially claimed she never touched the person and was never angry, she finally confessed to the Judicial Qualifications Commission.

Her lawyer says suspension without pay is too harsh of a punishment.
