Serena Williams Entrance to Her Final 1st Round at the US Open

Serena Williams’ tennis career isn’t over yet. The tennis great kicked off her final U.S. Open last night, going head-to-head on Arthur Ashe stadium with Danka Kovinic from Montenegro, and Serena lived to see another match. Serena beat Kovinic in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, which sets up a match today against the number two seed, Anett Kotaveit.

Knowing it could be her final match, there were plenty of stars in attendance last night, including Hugh Jackman, Bill Clinton, who was caught on camera having a intense conversation with Dr. Ruth Westheimer, Queen Latifah, Katie Couric, Spike Lee, Anna Wintour, Mike Tyson, and many many more.

And while it didn't turn out to be Serena’s final match, the U.S. Open honored to the tennis great after the match, with tributes from Gayle King and Billie Jean King, along with a video tribute narrated by Oprah Winfrey. (See bottom of this post)

  • ONE MORE THING! And Serena certainly decked herself out for her final U.S. Open. She wore a crystal-encrusted tennis outfit, complete with crystals in her hair and diamond-encrusted shoes. Her skirt was made with six layers to represent the number of U.S. Opens she won, although she later admitted she took some off because it was too heavy. And in cuteness overload, her daughter Olympia donned a matching outfit.
