Sarasota Roundabout Construction is a Hot Mess

Construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Gulfstream Avenue is causing major traffic delays! This phase of the project is reported to last 100 days so be prepared to alter your route if it involves U.S. 41 along Sarasota's bayfront.

There is a new traffic pattern to accommodate the construction of a roundabout at the downtown intersection.

The state agency advised motorists to expect stop-and-go traffic and restricted movements during the switch to the new pattern, urging drivers to use alternate routes, if possible. On Tuesday, the Sarasota Police Department said it is working to get traffic moving, but the agency also suggested drivers should avoid the area if they could.

During this phase, there will be no through traffic at the intersection.

Motorists heading north on US 41 will not be able to go through the intersection at all and will be routed down Main Street.

There are major backups in both directions on the Ringling Bridge.

Be safe out there!
