Young Cancer Survivor Donates Thousands of Toys to Hospital

A young cancer survivor is showing his gratitude to the hospital that treated him with a big donation. Tripp Hughes just finished chemo at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, and wanted to pay forward the kindness they showed him. So he and his mom, Krista, started a toy drive that was a big success.

During the pandemic, patients aren’t allowed to share toys, so the toys go home with the kids. But this seven-year-old collected 44-hundred toys for the hospital to replenish their supply so other young patients will have plenty to play with.

“They'd offer anything to make us just feel as at home as possible,” Tripp says. “So, we just wanted them to also feel the way that they made us feel.”
