Sarasota is getting a 1950s themed center that specializes in adults struggling with declining memory. Town Square is an 11,000+ square foot center themed after main streets from the 50s with storefronts including a diner, theater, library, pub, city hall, health club and more.
This center has been designed to give immersive Reminiscence Therapy (RT) and bring its participants back to a time where their memories are the strongest. RT is a type of therapy that utilizes tangible prompts from a person’s past to elicit memories and has been shown to reduce agitation, improve mood and improve sleep quality.
The future of caring for those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia begins in the past.
Sarasota's Town Square will be located in the Oaks Plaza shopping center at 3880 Central Sarasota Parkway. Construction will begin this month, and the center is expected to open over the summer.
It's really tough to decribe how wonderful the facility is in words. Please watch the video below! More information available at: https://glenner.org/town-square/
