Here's the Official Banished Words List from 2020

Lake Superior State University in Michigan has come out with their annual “Banished Words List,” featuring words folks need to stop saying due to "overuse, misuse, or uselessness.” Overall, 1,450 words and phrases were nominated, with 250 related to the coronavirus, seven of which made the Top Ten. There were also non-COVID words like “Karen,” and “sus,” short for suspicious.

  1. COVID-19 (and related-words COVID, coronavirus and Rona)
  2. Social Distancing
  3. “We’re all in this together”
  4. “In an abundance of caution”
  5. “In these uncertain times”
  6. Pivot
  7. Unprecedented
  8. Karen
  9. Sus
  10. “I know right?”

I don't know about you but I am THRILLED about banishing most of this list. Any that you think they missed for the top 10?
