In Sarasota, law enforcement is hoping to catch kids … in the act of doing something good. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is hoping to encourage young people to do acts of kindness and service by rewarding those who do.
They’re teaming up with 7-Eleven for their “Operation Chill” campaign, where deputies will be looking for kids to “ticket’ when caught doing a good deed. These can be anything from wearing a helmet while riding a bicycle to picking up litter to holding the door open for someone else.
The lucky kids who are spotted being a helpful part of the community will be rewarded with a coupon for a free Slurpee from 7-Eleven. It gives the deputies a chance to make a positive connection with local kids and the little ones make out with a free Slurpee, so it’s a real win-win.
