Volunteers Remove 947 Pounds of Trash in Venice from North Jetty

Over the weekend, volunteers removed over 900 pounds of trash in Venice from the North Jetty.

The Suncoast Reef Rovers SCUBA club of Venice coordinated with several other groups for the big effort. In addition to the SCUBA group they had Sea Tow, marine patrol units, kayakers, snorkelers, volunteers and even the Venice Police Department. This amazing effort removed 947 pounds of trash including all kinds of fishing accessories like ropes and traps, but the oddest item removed was a manhole cover.

This isn't the first rodeo for the club, they have been doing these underwater cleanups for 20 years!
