When a hit song turns 25 years old, it is technically old enough to become a "classic hit". When that song is just barely old enough to gain this classification, we call them "baby classics".
This week's baby classic is:
Sheryl Crow, "All I Wanna Do" (1994)
This song was the breakthrough hit for her. It was from her "Tuesday Night Music Club" album that debuted in 1993, and "All I Wanna Do" shot to the #2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Sheryl wasn't unable to bump "I'll Make Love to You" by Boyz II Men on the Hot 100 chart, but she did land at #1 on the Adult Contemporary Chart. Crow also earned two Grammys in 1995, Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal. "All I Wanna Do" was also nominated for Song of the Year.
There is a character in the song called "Billy" and in the music video he is portrayed by Gregory Sporleder. You may recognize him from many popular movies and television shows. He is most well known for playing military men in films such as The Rock, Black Hawk Down and Renaissance Man, as well as Calvin Norris in the HBO series True Blood.
