While most college kids on spring break are busy partying, this young man from Georgia spent his vacation in cleaning up the beach in Miami. Joshua Caraway is a freshman at the University of West Georgia. He and a group of friends selected Miami Beach for Spring Break 2019. Instead of wild parties and hangovers, he spent the week picking up after his fellow college students.
The 19-year-old says he came to enjoy spring break with his friends, but doesn’t see that as an excuse to leave things worse than he found them.
“We need to keep the beach clean,” Caraway explains. “Even though I’m on vacation, I can still help out.”
His good deed caught the attention of Miami Beach Police Major Paul Acosta, who thanked the teen for his efforts in person and on Twitter. “Thank you for caring about our environment and Miami Beach,” he posted. Check it out below!
