"Close to You" by Maxi Priest is this Week's Baby Classic

When a hit turns 25 years old it is technically old enough to be a classic hit. When they are just barely old enough, we call them baby classics.

The week's BABY CLASSIC is:

Maxi Priest, "Close to You" (1990)

"Close to You" reached #1 on Billboard's Top 100 on October 6th 1990. It was bumped one week later by George Michael. This song was on the charts for a whopping 15 weeks.

Other things from 1990:

Cost of Living: Loaf of bread : 70 cents

Music Happenings:  Oct. 3rd Florida record store owner, Charles Freeman, is found guilty of obscenity, for selling 2 Live Crew rap records

TV Debuts: Oct. 4th U.S. premiere of Fox TV's "Beverly Hills, 90210" starring Luke Perry, Jason Priestley and Shannen Doherty. Coincidentally, Luke Perry's birthday is also this week!
