Police discovered the bodies of a married couple after their downstairs neighbor called to report blood was dripping from his ceiling. When officers arrived at the upstairs apartment in Margate, Florida nobody answered the door and firefighters had to remove it.
Once inside the apartment, they found 84-year-old Nicholas Mantzouranis sprawled on the floor with a gun next to his body and his 66-year-old wife, Sally Mantzaouranis, dead on their bed. Each had a gunshot wound to the head. Police believe that Nicholas shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself.
One of the neighbors told the Sun-Sentinal that he was informed by police that one of the gunshots actually went through the wall and into his apartment while he was not home. He said that he would occasionally run into the couple when they went to Winn-Dixie, but explained they mostly kept to themselves.
