Simply Red's "If You Don't Know Me By Now" is 30 Years Old

What's a "Baby Classic" you ask? It's a mega-hit that has just recently been birthed into "classic hits" status (a.k.a. 25+ years old!)

The week's BABY CLASSIC is:

Simply Red, "If You Don't Know Me By Now" (1989)

This song was originally written for Patti Labelle's group, Labelle, but they passed on it. Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes recorded it, released it and it peaked at #3 on the R&B chart in 1972. Simply Red's cover was a huge commercial success reaching #1 in 1989.
