SARASOTA- Michelle Penn didn't know how to crochet, but with patience, 500 grocery bags, and roughly 33 hours, she made her first mat. Penn takes plastic grocery bags and crochets them by hand to create a mat for the local homeless. This mat provides comfort for many people who otherwise would have to sit on the hot and often wet ground in Florida. Each mat uses 500 plastic grocery bags and takes over ten hours to make.
Michelle.... you are awesome! Thank you for thinking of others and doing something about it! This is your good news, baby!
AMAZING | It takes 500 plastic bags and 10 hours to make one mat. "If the ground is hot or wet, they can put these down and put a blanket on top of it and they're really much more comfortable," said Penn. https://t.co/FBQlXKs5K9 https://t.co/FBQlXKs5K9— wendy (@anchorwendyryan) August 4, 2018
