This song reached #1 on Billboard's Mainstream Pop chart the week of April 17th 1993. It stayed at the top for 7 weeks. Over time, this hit has become one people either LOVE or HATE. For example, VH1 ranked it #41 on their "100 Greatest Songs of the 90s", but Blender magazine ranked it as #21 on their list called "50 Worst Songs Ever". EVER?!
