BABY CLASSIC: We Don't Save the Best For Last

posted by Meredith Michaels -

What's a "Baby Classic" you ask? It's a mega-hit that has just recently been birthed in to "classic hits" status (a.k.a. 25+ years old!)

This song was #1 on Billboard Chart Top 100 and turns 26 years old this week! Don't worry, we won't SAVE this one any longer.....

The week's BABY CLASSIC is:

Vanessa Williams, "Save the Best for Last" (1992)

This is considered to be Vanessa Williams' signature song. The former Miss USA's hit reached Billboard Chart's #1 spot on March 21st 1992. "Save the Best for Last" stayed at the top for 6 weeks.

Other things that happened 25 years ago this week (1993):

  • Sports: North Carolina won the NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament
  • TV Rankings Spring 1993:
    • 60 Minutes CBS
    • Home Improvement ABC
    • Seinfeld NBC
    • Roseanne ABC
    • Grace Under Fire ABC
    • Coach  ABC
    • Frasier NBC
  • Pop Culture: Consecutive free throw record was set by 71 year old, Thomas Amberry. The record was 2,750! It took him 12 hours and the streak didn't end because he missed...the janitor kicked him out of the gym! COME ON, MAN!
