Canceled events in Sarasota-Bradenton-Venice due to Coronavirus

As we see new developments everyday, it is extremely important to remain calm, take in the facts and follow guidelines. For a while, I was getting angry about the perceived overreaction to this virus. But I have since changed my view. I believe steps (cancellations) are being taken in an effort to help contain the virus and prevent further spreading, and not done as a panic move. The bottom line is the effort to have fewer people sick...fewer people needing hospital care. Therefore, cancelling large gathering events IS responsible, because it WILL lower the virus' ability to spread, making containment more manageable. This is NOT to say you can't live your life. You can still go to the UTC Mall, grab a bite to eat at your favorite restaurant, or go to the beach. Simply remember to pay attention, practice good hygiene and not panic. We will all get through this together! Get up to date information from credible sources as well, like from the CDC website. If you are reading a Coronavirus article that starts with 'Opinion', then you're better off skipping it.

Here is an important list of events that have been postponed or cancelled in our area.
