Five Sarasota Military Academy cadets will be part of the first ever, LIVE Oath of Enlistment, or "swear-in", for military recruits.
This groundbreaking ceremony administered by U.S. Army Colonel and NASA astronaut Andrew Morgan, currently on the International Space Station (ISS), at Space Center Houston. The U.S. Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) has collaborated with the nonprofit Space Center Houston for this historic event marking a transformative time in the lives of these future soldiers.
Morgan will swear in 800 military recruits around the country including more than 20 military recruits at Space Center Houston during a call to the space station. The ceremony will stream live on NASA TV to high schools and recruiting venues around the nation.
After delivering the oath of enlistment, Morgan will share his army experience, stories from life on the ISS and answer questions from the new enlistees at Space Center Houston and students from participating schools during the live event moderated by Brig. Gen. Patrick Michaelis, USAREC deputy commanding general.
