What's a "baby classic" you ask? When a hit turns 25 years old it is officially considered a "classic hit". To put that in perspective, any song from 1993 or earlier is technically a classic, and the youngest of those we call baby classics.
The week's BABY CLASSIC is:
Blind Melon, "No Rain" (1993)
Blind Melon is a band from Los Angeles that took on the popular Seattle grunge scene with their neo-psychedelic style. "No Rain" was Blind Melon's biggest hit which has landed them in the one-hit wonder category as well. "No Rain" reached #1 on Billboard's Alternative, Mainstream rock, and the Canada's Top Singles chart. The music video, better known as "Bee Girl" was even more popular than the song.
Other things from 1993:
Music Happenings: Coachella was started when the band Pearl Jam boycotted Ticketmaster in 1993 for their high prices, and played at the location during their Ticketmaster boycott tour.
Movie Released: A Bronx Tale, $17M (Robert DeNiro, Chazz Palminteri)
TV Debuts: "Grace Under Fire" starring Brett Butler debuts on ABC
