Planning a wedding can be exciting, but it can also be brutal. And, expensive. A lot of work and a lot of money go into one day of celebrating.

Can you imagine doing all that work – and then cancelling it because you split up with your future bride or groom?

Well, that’s exactly the problem Phil LaBoon faced when he and his fiancée broke up days before their wedding.

But, instead of just walking away from it all, LaBoon turned his canceled wedding into a charity event for underprivileged kids.

He asked for an entrance fee of $75 from his invited guests – and actually took donations from people around the country to help sick children in developing countries.

LaBoon called the event LemonAID – as in … when life gives you lemons, turn it into lemonade.
